How to pick the right class for you
If you have never practiced Yoga before or if you consider yourself a beginner, check out the “Beginning Yoga” classes. Anahata and Hatha I are the best places to start. There is also a “Yoga Without Movement” class if you are in need of more peace and relaxation.
If you have done some yoga, please check out “Yoga for All Levels”
To find a class description, simply click on the name of the class.
We have several classes that are “by donation.” These sessions have no set fee but donations are welcome. Students with a LivingSocial pass card may have their cards initialed as their *donation for these classes.
*All donations go to further and support local, national, and international charities.
Parking at our Center
There are three options for parking:
- •Free (2 hour) street parking out in front of the Center on both sides of the street
- •Free community parking lot on 61st street less than ½ block south of Maple (and our center)
- •Behind our building (off the alley) is our (small) free building lot
Guidelines for enjoying our classes
- •Arrive for class 15-20 minutes early to secure a place.
- •Wear comfortable, or loose-fitting clothes (natural fibers breathe best).

- •Please sign in each time you come (sign-in sheet is in entryway).
- •Bring your purse /wallet with you into the Yoga room.
- •Please turn off your cell phone.
- •We will redeem your LivingSocial voucher for a LivingSocial class pass. Bring your pass with you each time (as it works like cash).
What to expect
When you begin a new program of movement, you may experience different sensations from what you normally notice. Take this opportunity to tune into your body– if you feel pain, do less!
It may take a few classes (and some home practice) before you’re able to understand your limitations.
In Yoga we work with our edges, gently expanding them as the body allows. When completing a session you may feel relaxed, energized, balanced, light and spacious. With conscious awareness, the practice of Yoga improves strength and flexibility, tones the organ systems, releases toxins, strengthens the immune system and quiets the nervous system–all to bring balance, awareness and harmony.
Some things to be mindful about
- •Let your teacher know of any health concerns.
- •Practice on an empty stomach.
- •Breathe in and out through the nose whenever possible.
- •Go slowly and pay attention to what you feel.
- •Stay within your comfort zone when practicing postures —it may take time to find what feels comfortable, so be gentle with yourself.
- •Keep the eyes open — soft and relaxed.
- •Observe your experience in the pose without judgment — it’s okay to be where you are.
- •During menstruation, women should avoid inversions(postures where the pelvis is higher than the head).
- •Feel free to ask questions!
